Our Story

Karlysue y Los Charros performing musicians in traditional mariachi attire in Utah

Karlysue y Los Charros is a professional Utah-based mariachi band rooted in generations of musical tradition. Siblings Sam Castillo (violin, vocals) and Karlysue Castillo Pereyra (violin, lead vocals) are third-generation mariachi musicians, carrying forward a family legacy of artistry and performance. Sam Pereyra and Arturo Fuentes, both second-generation musicians also share deep musical ties. Their parents performed together in their youth creating a connection long before the group ever formed.

After moving to Utah for university in 2012, Karlysue met Sam Pereyra and Arturo in a local mariachi ensemble, where their immediate musical chemistry and close friendship laid the foundation for future collaboration. In 2016, the three founded Trio Los Charros, which later grew into the four-member ensemble now known as Karlysue y Los Charros.

Today the group provides live mariachi music for private events public events and corporate events throughout Utah and surrounding areas including Utah County and Salt Lake County.
